Monthly Scripture Highlights

From the Empty Tomb to the Upper Room

The journey does not end at the empty tomb — it begins there. From the moment the stone was rolled away to the day the Spirit fell like fire in the Upper Room, God was writing a story of resurrection, restoration, and power. This month, we are walking that holy corridor together — tracing the footsteps of the risen Christ through His appearances, His promises, and His commission. As we move toward Pentecost, may these scriptures stir your faith, deepen your hunger for His presence, and remind you that the same Spirit who raised Jesus from the dead is alive and active in you today.

He Is Not Here — He Is Risen

Scripture:

"Why do you seek the living among the dead? He is not here, but is risen!"

Luke 24:5-6 (NKJV)

Summary:

When the women arrived at the tomb with spices, they found not a body but an announcement — a declaration that changed everything. The angels' question cuts to the heart of our own faith: we cannot find the living Christ in places of death. The resurrection is not merely a historical event to be remembered; it is a present reality to be inhabited. Jesus rose bodily, victoriously, and completely, defeating sin and death on our behalf. The empty tomb is the foundation upon which every promise of God stands.

.

Encouragement:

Are you searching for hope in a situation that feels like a tomb? Hear the word of the Lord today: He is not there. He is risen — and because He lives, your circumstances do not have the final word. Step out of the grave clothes of fear and discouragement, and walk in the light of His resurrection power. What was dead in your life is subject to the same God who conquered the grave.

Wait for the Promise —

Power Is Coming

Scripture:

"But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth."

Acts 1:8 (NKJV)

Summary:

Forty days after the resurrection, just before His ascension, Jesus gave His disciples their final commission and His greatest promise: the Holy Spirit. He did not send them out to witness in their own strength — He told them to wait. The power they were about to receive was not human motivation or religious determination. It was dunamis — the very explosive, miracle-working ability of God. This verse connects the Upper Room to the uttermost parts of the earth and reminds us that the mission of the Church was never meant to be carried out apart from the Spirit's enabling.

Encouragement:

You were not called to live the Christian life on your own strength — and you were never meant to. The same Spirit Jesus promised to those disciples is available to you right now. If you have been striving, pushing, and exhausting yourself trying to do God's work in your own ability, this is your invitation to wait, receive, and be filled afresh. The power of the Holy Spirit is not reserved for a select few — it is the inheritance of every believer.

When the Spirit Falls — Suddenly

Scripture:

"When the Day of Pentecost had fully come, they were all with one accord in one place. And suddenly there came a sound from heaven, as of a rushing mighty wind... and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance."

Acts 2:1–4 (NKJV)

Summary:

The disciples had waited, prayed, and remained in one accord — and then God showed up in a way no one could manufacture or contain. The rushing wind, the tongues of fire, the supernatural languages — all of it was evidence that heaven had invaded earth and the Church was born in power. Pentecost was not the end of the story that began at the empty tomb; it was the glorious continuation. The risen Christ, now ascended and glorified, had sent the promised Comforter, and nothing would ever be the same again.

Encouragement:

Pentecost Sunday is coming — and with it, a reminder that God still fills, still speaks, and still moves among His people. Do not let familiarity with the story steal the wonder from your spirit. As you build toward this holy day, position yourself like those 120 in the Upper Room: in one accord, in prayer, and in expectation. God is still in the business of suddenly. His wind still blows, His fire still falls, and His Spirit still transforms ordinary people into powerful witnesses for His glory.
